Boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather (45-0; 26 KO) will put his undefeated record on the line against big-hitting Argentine sensation Marcos Maidana (35-3; 31 KO) on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
The fight, for the WBC Welterweight title, will be produced by Showtime PPV.
Mayweather’s resume is highlighted by wins over 20 world champions, including Arturo Gatti, Canelo Alvarez, Carlos Baldomir, Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Shane Moseley, Victor Ortiz and Zab Judah, while Maidana has beaten the likes of Adrien Broner, DeMarcus Corley, Erick Morales, Jesus Soto Karass, Josesito Lopez, DeMarcus Corley and Victor Ortiz.
Maidana has been beaten by Amir Khan, Andreas Kotelnik and Devon Alexander. Khan (28-3; 19 KO), who won the silver medal representing the UK at the 2004 Olympics in Athens at the age of 17, will fight Luis Collazo (35-5; 18 KO) on the Mayweather-Maidana undercard.
As expected, Mayweather is the bookmakers’ odd-on favorite to win. The most popular bets are as follows: Mayweather (1/10), Maidana (8/1), Draw (38/1).
Ticket prices range from around $400 to $15,000.
